Building better behaviourS — one STEP at a time
Training Methods
Whether you have a new puppy, just adopted a dog or your current dog could use a refresher, I can help you achieve your best with them.
I know firsthand how stressful dog ownership can be. As the guardian of a reactive, anxious dog myself, I understand how emotional and overwhelming it can feel. That's why I work with you to teach you how to train your dog in a way that clearly communicates expectations using methods that motivate your dog to learn and succeed.
With over 8 years of experience volunteering in dog rescue, I've worked with dogs of all temperaments and backgrounds- from fearful and reactive to high energy and overly friendly. My mission is to help you build a strong, respectful relationship with your dog through positive, science-based training. Together we turn confusion into confidence - for both you and your dog.
I start by understanding the relationship you want to have with your dog and I make that the heart of your training plan. You'll learn to communicate with your dog in a language you both understand.
Throughout our training, I focus on reinforcing the bond
between you and your dog - all while having fun! Training should feel good, and that's why I only use humane, positive reinforcement methods backed by science.

Training Tools
Reinforcement is my primary tool to help the connection between dog and handler to communicate what we want from them, instead of using aversive methods to correct mistakes.
I DO use treats, toys, verbal praise, environmental rewards and various tools like harness, leashes and longlines that go hand in hand with a training program. Backed by science, this approach of positive reinforcement, force free dog training uses the standards for the LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) techniques to shape desirable behaviours that we want to see from our canine companions.
Growing up I only knew about force-based training methods which involved punishing our dogs for not doing as asked or expected. The desire to learn another way pushed me to search for alternative methods as a young adult. I knew there had to be another way.
